updating firmware for ms25

okay i modded my ms25 drive using xbm and xtreme52 firmware. i now want to update to ixtreme1.2b because i am getting dirty disked only on burned games. do i need to restore my original firmware before i update or just go from where i am now?

You don't need to restore with a Samsung drive. Just run iPrep, load the ixtrem12.bin firmware, choose the equivalent iPrep settings as you did for XBM. In Dos, run iDump <serial> <serial> , reboot, and run iFlash <serial> <serial>. Remember to use the 0800 disc to disable FirmGuard.

can i put the 0800 on a single layer disc or does the disk have to be dual layer

Put it on Double Layer, since single layer support is removed from iXtreme, you'll need to eventually use a DL anyways.
