Updating FW and SXOS for offline family switches.

My husband, I, and our 4 kids all have switches running FW 5.1.0 and SXOS 1.5.

We play a lot of group/party games, and some of the newest ones require an update, so I wanted to update the FW and SXOS to the most stable versions that accommodate the new games.

We play exclusively offline.

I have tried reading the forums, but my understanding of everything is tenuous at best.

I don't think I need to update to the very latest FW or SXOS versions....I just need to update them a little more than they currently are. Does anyone know what FW I need to play Atlas & other newer games? Can I then use choidournx to update to some mid-level FW? What SXOS should I update to? Some of them have been glitchy in the past, which one is currently the most stable?

Thanks a ton for your help!

EmuNAND + ChoiDjourNX (disable AutoRCM during update) are your best friends in here.
My NAND is 5.1 and EmuNAND 6.2 I'm on 6 burnt fuses (5.XFW).

Ok, thanks! I was nervous to update all the way to 6.2.0 because of the burnt fuses thing. I knew there was a brief period where SXOS was unusable after the last update. I saw that they had fixed the issue, but I didn't know how stable the release was, or if I should try and stay pre-fuses.

Do I need to use ChouDujourNX, or can I just let nintendo update them by bringing them briefly online?

Do I need to mess with emunand, or can I just update FW normally & put the latest SXOS on the SD card. (I'm a little hazy on what emunand does/is...I think it's essentially a virtual partition on the SD card?...I'll youtube/figure it out if I have to use it, but I would like to avoid messing with it if just a regular ol' update to the FW and OS will work.

Edit: We bought a license for each switch, but only one dongle. Some SXOS versions in the past have a tendency to run into errors when switching games...which the kids do a lot. In a 1hour period on SXOS 5.1.0 I will get the dongle out to reboot their devices 3-4 times, which can get tedious...so I'm very interested in making sure the SXOS I update to is as stable as possible.

If you already been offline all this while don't start now.
Update with CDNX always, just note no matter how you update, the moment you disable AutoRCM and enter OFW, the fuses will burn offline or not, because the switch checks each time it boots, AutoRCM bypasses this check.

Emunand is good because basically it creates another seperate partition that the switch can boot from. This partition has no ties with your OFW whatsoever, think of it as a dual-boot or virtual machine. So if you can give up 32gigs of space on your sd card, this is a very good option.

The main benefits of Emunand are these:
-If you get bricked by a malicious code, such as from NSPs or XCIs, you simply delete the Emunand portion and start over. Your OFW is still safe.
-Whatever you install in Emunand, be it games or home-brew, your OFW will be none the wiser(just stay offline/stealth mode).
-You can have Emunand on 6.2 and leave your OFW untouched at whatever firmware. You can even ignore/forget your OFW completely and run your Emunand as
your daily driver.

I just don't understand if installing as files or a hidden partition on the sd card is better, yet to get a good recommendation on this.

Whatever your decision, update via ChoiDNX and stay away from Nintendo always.

We don't use AutoRCM right now, should we enable it/start using it? I just reinsert the jig & dongle for every reboot.
