Everything went fine so far, freeboot installed and xbox been working flawless since last night.

System info now shows dash as D:2.0.9199.0 - K:2.0.9199.0 (BK:2.0.1888.0) X:770A-8178-6904-F548).

If I attempt to connect to XBL it says that my console needs to update in order to use the service. I stopped at this point, somehow I felt this would lead to trouble and later this was confirmed by someone else. I need to update my dash/kernal manually and not use MS servers right?

This means constructing a new freeboot.bin file but where do I get hold of the latest kernel/dash updates to perform this?

Actually, once you have Jtagged your console and installed freeboot on it, you don't connect to XBL. Because if you do, your console will immediately be banned.

And by the way, as 9199 is the latest kernel, connecting to XBL won't update it. But when you tried to connect, the update your Xbox360 wanted was the Avatar data for the NXE because freeboot itself doesn't contain the avatar data, and you need to install it seperately.
