Updating NAND-X

hey there guys, i jsut have a quick question about updating NAND-X . the steps taht are on the original topic about updating it, should i follow them even though i only bought the USB to NAND-X cable?

I just upgraded mine with the USB NANDX cable and thats all I did, after I installed the USB cable drivers plug it to the NAND X and follow this tutorial..
