Updating Pokemon Sword/Shield

Hi,
Has anybody being able to safely update (the most recent) Pokemon Sword/Shield in custom firmware mode and official firmware mode?
Just wondering whether I should upgrade so I can trade Pokemon locally.
Hearing your experiences with both modes would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by safely update ?
What should be/go wrong while updating ?

You should never update your games while booted to CFW nor should you do anything that requires you to connect to Nintendo's servers. End of the day once you mod your are always at risk of having your account banned.

bob neil many of cfw users has updated there games on day one. simply do a research on how you get the update .nsp files google is your friend. and you can use sxinstaller

Thanks Kutaro. I have found that the option of "updating software data via local user" to work successfully. I always make sure that my internet is switched off.
