Hello everyone.
So im a bit confused with the whole updating process. I’m looking to get some clarification. I have a day one console and I am currently not banned. I do not use autorcm. So when updating I know we use choi for the emunand and then the normal updating method for the sysnand.
my question is when and how does the fuse issue begin to come into play? If I update my emunand first would that be the problem?
What is the proper way to go about it?
update Sysnand officially and then emunand with Choi?
Thank you

You should use ChoiDujourNX for both sysNAND and emuNAND. If you update officially through nintendo at all, it will burn your fuses. ChoiDujourNX prevents that from happening. So you'll have to update the two separately with ChoiDujourNX.

If you don't plan on playing online, then I wouldn't even touch sysNAND if I were you. The entire point of an emuNAND is so you can leave the sysNAND untouched. Update the emuNAND, and use that.

How do I use Choi for the sysnand? Do I just disable emunand from the SX menu and boot and then run Choi?
Or does it allow you to select which to update when ran inside of emunand?
if I do that though does that mean I need to start using Autorcm? In order to prevent the fuse burning.

If you boot cfw (emuNAND disabled) then that is sysNAND. If you use ChoiDujourNX to update inside sysNAND, it will also update your OFW.

EmuNAND is completely separate. If you update emuNAND, your sysNAND will stay at the firmware it's currently at.

So is that the proper way to do it?
Or can I update both the sysnand and emunand when running Choi from inside emunand?
Or do I have to run choi separately from each other?
Thanks for all the info.

You have to run choi separately from each other , you can only update the "nand" your booted into

Thanks for the info. That piece of info should be added to the sticky guide of Choi. It was really confusing for me, when people wrote, I should update emunand. I was under the impression that I would always update the sysnand.

I see your point, the problem is that this guide was written before we got the pleasure of using emunand

Aye. Just to be very clear: when booting into cfw with emunand and updating with Choi, you only update the emunand. Therefore sysnand is untouched and most importantly: fuses are not burned? ?

That is correct, just remember if you do not deselect it, autorcm will be enabled when updating with choi

Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to update from 6.2.0 to 8.1.0 without getting the black screen that i've been seeing others say they have. I'm trying to understand the previous posts. How do I boot into cfw with emunand using the sx dongle? Or how do I choose whether to boot into emunand or sysnand?
