sx os give us the way to not only install nsp and xci but xci can be used like a virtual cardrige. if i use it on my non emu nand, it keeps there these placeholders in the main menu. does these placeholders have some sort of id in it, or can i just boot without cfw and update these placeholders?
i got no ban so far an did this once with my minecraft xci file to update it.

i havent found anything helpful about this situation... what infos are inside these placeholders? what will be written internaly? (found out updating a game will unlikely make it impossible to use an older game version again) and is it safe to update thee placeholders with ofw?

Firstly, you shouldn't go online with a modded console or you are risking getting banned.

That being said, if you DO go online without SX OS stealth mode protection, you will receive game and firmware updates as expected.

If you have played pirated content on your switch this information is logged and will be sent to them. This is how you get banned. Once it's sent, it's Game Over. No going back.
i thougt already that i confuse others with this :d
i mean, youhave 2 to 3 ways to boot the switch, ofw, cfw and cfw with emunand (if you create it).
what i mean is using a xci on cfw (without emunand) and then reboot in ofw and update it. in ofw you cant use xci and i try to find out if the store thinks this way that the xci, who creates this placeholder, is a legit copy and just installs updates.
like i sayed before, got no ban updating minecraft, and that was half a year before now. i read about the certs in xci, and somewere here that the cert partition (i dont know the right name, sorry) is scrambled or fully removed. i try to find out if any of this cert data is written in some logs or so.

if i think it further, if i use another cart of the same game (fully legit), it would play fine and isnt bount to any account, it yould just use the other cart. i think there wouldnd be any certs written and/or bindings created, but thats just my guess. i try to find out more about this situation.
oh and yes, in the beginning, i wasnt aware of many risks and installed games to my emunand via store... its quite strange that i got no ban so far i have to admit...

right now i know how dangerous the internet for modded switches is, and im aware of the dangers, but i try to know how it all works, and what can be savely done and what not.

buuuuut i think my question itself is quite special. every one just plays ofline, as it should be, but games like minecraft or terraria (i dont know if it got portet on switch) need theyr updates and i dont know any secure sources who can deliver regular updates.

sorry, i try to explain it as god as i can, but my english is limited...

EDIT: i use emunand for homebrew, nsp files and xci who doesnt need regular updates. stealth mode is always on on emunand

Most scene released games have the certs blanked out with 0xFF's anyway so that's a big red flag for a ban. If you are backing up your own cartridges you can keep your own certs with the dump. That "may" help.... but don't count on it.
Why didnt you mention this? this answered my question. found it in an year old thread...
