I took out the working 2.6 chip and put in the X3
(I also plugged in the Eject/reset adapter)

When I powered the thing up it behaves like an original Xbox :(
-The new switchpanel doesent light up at all, just the chip.

Is this a known prob?

I'm thinking it's a missing connection or something..

Where do I start?

It seems that there is a power problem..
-The infamous 3.3V light is dead :(

There are lots of information about it on this forum, but i've tried it all!

*Resoldered LPC
*D0 point is perfect
*Connected pin 9 and 15
.. even tried getting 3.3v from the same place as SmartXX LINK

Anyone? I am desperate!

Help with replacement Drive. Thank you

EY all. First post :). I have a few questions so ill try to keep it short and sweet, and try not to annoy anyone in the process.

I have a xbox360 with a Hitachi 59DJ drive with 1.51Ixtreme. The drive has been acting crazy and making strange colors. I figured it was the Drive so...

I ordered a new Samsung Ts-H943. I do not have a connectivity kit. Sooo I hook it up through the Xbox as the power and plug the sata into the computer.

Drive is recognized in the Bios but not in Windows 7 64bit
Opened jungle flash and still nothing.

After research going through old posts I find that im pretty much screwed in the starfish. I do not have a VIA chipset.

So I need to do several things here.

I need to get the drive recognized, flashed with my hitachi key, and flashed with 1.61 Ixtreme.

Also one last thing... if it turns out I cant get this thing to work I have the option of returning the drive. My question is If i buy a Hitachi DJ79 can i still swap out the boards with my DJ59? or do they have to be the exact version.

Thank you very much for your time. I have been doing alot of reading and cant find a solution. This is kinda my last stand. If you people cant help me no one else can :)

thanks again.

Re: Help with replacement Drive. Thank you

if you are getting weird colors, its a sign of the RROD to come, not a problem with your DVD drive

you shouldn't need to replace the drive, as long as you aren't getting dirty disk errors

Re: Help with replacement Drive. Thank you

oh crap. That sucks.

I just figured it was the lazer making the strange colors.

It only does it when im playing a game. for example gears of war.

i start the game 10 seconds into it the screen starts to get green and crazy

ok.. So i got a update for you all.

I took apart the xbox to bare motherboard.. cleaned up the cpu thermal paste. put some new thermal paste on
put everything back togeather and now im not having the problem.

I have alot of thermal paste off of the cpu. is that going to affect heat much? I tryed rubbing it off with some alcohol but i couldnt get much off.
