Upgrading a double partitioned HDD to a new one for JTAG'd Xbox

Hey guys.

Last year I've bought a JTAG mod for my Slim. The guy who did the job also prepared the external HDD I gave him by partitioning it in two parts: one part is FAT32 where I put games, etc and the other part is formatted as a MU where I save stuff, etc.

Now I've just bought a new, larger external HDD and I'd like to simply clone the old one to the new one. I've tried every sort of commercial program (Acronis, Norton Ghost, HDclone, etc) but everyone of them always fails for some reason (not recognizing the second partition, errors).

I wanted to prepare myself the external HDD by formatting it like the guy did. Could you guys give me any pointers on how to transform a partition into a Xbox MU?

I hope I'm using the right jargon since I'm not at all an expert in Xbox modding.

Thanks everybody for support

What makes you think there's an extra partition created for the MU?

You can't see it because it's not there. Take Windows out of 'noobie' mode by showing hidden files and folders. TBH if you just did a CTRL-A (select all), Windows would tell you there's a hidden folder and ask if you want to select that too.

The HDclone utility showed it as a second partition.

Windows it's already showing hidden files - I've already tried copying everything with simple copy and paste but it didn't work. I'm not experienced in the Xbox modding scene but I'd like to point out that, being a webdeveloper, I'm not an IT illiterate so I can handle some basic stuff.

Now I've tried to create the MU by simply using the Xbox "configure" option in the storage menu and copied stuff into it through Fatxplorer.

I'll see if it works.

If you have a 2nd partition on your HDD then it's created by something else.

You should see an xbox360 folder on the root of your FAT32 partition. That's it.

If you're in any way IT Literate to a level which is of use, you'd know that if a games console can configure and remove a MU from a USB mass storage device without having to repartition the drive, something else must be happening.

I have had problems just copying the xbox mu partitions before, not all the time but sometimes. I have done as you said but then connected both to the xbox and just moved its content with it.

Does the files in the xbox360-folder contain information about the usb-drive?

Nope, I can't see anything related to the USB drive.

I've just managed to transfer everything. Now everything works: it boots directly into F3 as I had previously set up, profiles and everything is there but F3 can't find any game.
I've re-set the game path but still it finds no game.

Any clues?

Delete the F3 on the hd and do a fresh install.
