Hello all,
kindly need advice,
I have switch running SX OS 2.0.1 (using SX OS Pro with dongle and jig)
Switch firmware V.6

I have mostly only play Zelda BOTW, and some homebrew games installed from the day #1 I install SX OS.
Now I have download some new homebrew games and DLC, and seems like I need to upgrade my firmware.

any advice to where I can find the tutorial for upgrading my firmware and SX OS? Which one is first? upgrading SX OS first or firmware?
doing the update, does my Zelda data would be erased? how to backup the data?
I have plan to upgrade my SD card capacity to a bigger one to accommodate all my new games, do I need to backup my save data as well if I want to change SD card?

Appreciate for any advice given, thank you

Use Choijour to update firmware. Files here. Choijour tutorials are around just use search. Look here for software. Basically download, move to card then start app, point to folder, follow screen. Only thing I suggest is choose EXFAT(firmware) when ask. Update SXOS first or you will get blackscreen trying to boot to update SXOS after firmware update. Data will not be erased but good idea to backup save just in case.
Also after update and SD update make and use EMUNAND. It clones your nand to the SD and runs sCFW from there protecting the OFW nand.

What fw did you update to? Sysnand or emunand? Are you running the compatible sxos version? Did you select the correct file format for your switch on choidujournx when updating the fw I.e. exfat or or normal option? Is dongle fully charged when rebooting? You may be stuck in rcm mode in which case when booting your switch keep the vol up button pressed until you are past the sxos splash screen and you should get a screen with a few option on, select options and disable/uninstall rcm. Just be aware if you do you wil need the jig each time you power the switch on from when it’s properly switched off.

If you update firmware before updating SXOS you will get black screen when SXOS is not correct version. Always update SXOS before firmware updates to keep from getting black screen. Also always choose EXFAT firmware version on update if asked. IT simply adds software needed for exfat so you don't have format issues . You can easily just upate SXOS on sd card but when you get black screen everyone goes into panic mode and does not realize what they need. The majority of issues are fixable with a little troubleshooting. Using EMUNAND is by far the best way to protect your switch.

So, I accidently updated to the lastest firmware but didnt update my sxos. I just updated it to 2.9.4, but i still get a black screen after choosing to launch into cfw. What can i do to fix that black screen?

Black screen can come from mutiple issues. SXOS version to low, SD card wrong format(the reason to always pick exfat version on update), ipatched switch.SD read issue, and maybe more theses just the one I have seen. The best thing to start with is format an SD card to FAT32 using guiformat or the witch and copy over boot.dat and licens.dat then try. Update should not have caused issue but have seen on here thats some people have corrupt data after update. Next try using a TegraSmashGUI and connect to pc and you can run some payloads to see if different ones work. If other payloads work try SXOS payload that way.
Just noticed update to 2.9.5 if not already. You posted 2.9.4 but I think it was a typo.

If you pick wrong version when updating it's no big issue. Simply update again and pick exfat. May need to use an FAT32 card for update. It will just add the exfat files.

I've done the same thing as the OP. 10.0.0 firmware, 2.9.5 SXOS.

How do we get back into choi to retry installing the update if we can't get past the sxos boot menu?

Choi has mutiple options. One is a PC version. Also TegraSmashGUI lets you run other payloads that can get you to choi. Other CFW options do the same thing and can be used temporarily. SXOS boot menu has a payload option also

Thank you very much, slamride! I'll give it a try now. I'm backing things up and giving an alternative CFW a try.

pardon my way of asking on your thread OP. i have an ofw version of 9.1.0, can i just upgrade it to the newest (10.0.3) without having to upgrade to version 9.2.0 - 10.0.2? or should i sequentially upgrade to 9.2.0 first then 10.0.0 to 10.03?

You can upgrade straightaway to the newest no need to upgrade sequentially.
