Hello. I currently have an X2.3 Pro installed in my v1.4 xbox.

I'm really interested in upgrading to the X3 chip and XLCD, and look forward to the soon coming control panel and IR add ons.

My question is, when upgrading from my current X2.3 to the X3, is it as simple as just removing the X2.3 and replacing it with the X3 and flashing bios onto it?

I'm worried that I may have to do something strange pertaining to the lock/unlocking of the HD, to get the latest code before I take out the X2.3.

So that's the question. Do I have to worry about the lock/unlock code for my HD, or will leaving it justl ocked as it is, and powering off, then exchanging the mod chips and flashing the bios to the modchip be all I need to do? Or do I have to take special care involving the Lock/Unlock of the HD?

Thanks in advance,
Walp

I believe the X3 has more pins on the header, so you will need to remove the old 2.3 one and install the new X3 one for a start.

Thanks Jon.

Anyone know if I have to worry about lock/unlock on HD? That is my main worry, not so much the other hardware. I just don't want to take out the old xecuter and put in the new one and find that my HD has become unrecoverable because the X3 can't unlock it or something.

heheh.

You shouldn't have to worry. The hdd is locked from your eeprom. So aslong as you aren't, for what ever reason, getting a new eeprom and a new chip, you should be fine.

although, it doesn't hurt to unlock it before the switch and then lock it again afterwards....
