USB question

Hi, I'm new to this who scene and i was just wondering, I can get into my computers BIOS and I see the option where you can go to the Boot Selection, but i dont see anything that says USB, any suggestions? Do you have to have one plugged in to read it? Anything would help, also is it possible to run it off a cd? Would rather do usb tho, thanks

some older bios's do not have it but mine is under integrated peripherals...
