Use my modded ms28 with a new 360 that came with philp/benq?

I have a modded ms28 drive in the premium 360 . i got a new 360 for a my cousin and his comes with the phillips benq drive. can i just switch dvd drives in the consoles and expect it to werk with backups?

you need the keys from the benq drive to be able to swap. The question has been asked one million times with three million answers. just search in this form for it

I just got a new 360 with the BenQ and I have a Samsung that I would like to swap it with.

Can somebody please post a tutorial on how to do this?

OK there is no one tutorial at the moment (might be in the works), however you can combine info from several places to get exactly what you need. The first thing you need to do is dump the firmware from the BenQ to get the key. There's currently two ways to do that and both are covered in a tutorial here:

Once you have the key you need to patch it into Samsung hacked fw and spoof it to report as a BenQ. If you have a BenQ 64930C there is a pre-spoofed pack on Xbins called BenQ.Xtreme.and.iXtreme.Samsung.FW.Spoofs_1.0.rar, all you need to do is insert your key and it's done. ** This pack only works with 64930C drives! **

If you have any other type of BenQ or if you would just prefer to spoof it yourself manually rather than use the pack on Xbins, it's covered in a thread here:

Once you have the fw spoofed and with the key patched in you flash it to the drive following normal Samsung procedure.

Edit - Several hours after I posted this Maximus released Firmware Toolbox 4.5 which has better BenQ support, you can now use Toolbox 4.5 to easily spoof to BenQ.
