Hi,
I have an XBOX 360 S 4GB and was too ignorant to know that it had a slot for an internal hard drive. Long story short, the console stopped working. I believe a failed surge protector and a thunderstorm affected it somehow. I tried replacing the power supply/cable to no avail and pulled it apart to inspect the motherboard etc. There are no obvious shorts (to include the USB ports etc), burned areas, or damage but the fault remains the same. The console buttons work in so much as they beep when touched (and I think I hear the fan begin to spin but stop) but the console will not start. At any rate, researching today taught me a little about the NAND storage and I was wondering if anyone deemed it possible to recover game save data (I used the internal MU for a few games that I really want to recover data from) from a motherboard using a J Runner and a Corona QSB. From what I can tell, the motherboard needs power in order to interface with J Runner and read data on the NAND but it doesn't require the console to be on. My question is, does it sound plausible to be able to pull the NAND data and write it to another motherboard in order to recover a game save file? I'm obviously not well versed with this stuff, and I am going to look into replacing the RF card and whatever else is cheap prior to trying anthing like this but any input would help immensely. I don't solder frequently, but have received formal solder training and feel comfortable with that part. I just could use a little explanation as to how this all works. Also, I unfortunately don't have much knowledge about the Dash # etc since the console bricked on me.
If anyone feels like explaining technical stuff to one of the uneducated, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ryan
