Hi, I have seen people take a Slim Liteon 16D4S PCB and put it into a Phat Liteon 16D2S Drive, and I really want to do this since my slim liteon drive is shot (PCB is fine) and all I have is a phat liteon drive as a spare. I'm pretty sure this will work since the phat and slim liteon's pcb looks exactly the same. Is this O.K.?

Although the laser ribbon looks the same the phat has an extra pin they deffo don't look the same but if you swap the laser and PCB I cannot see why it woudnt work

No it won't at all be live safe
Spoofing is never supported either

Ps. Use a hack saw to cut the width of the phat drive

Edit. Think I miss read you going to use your orig PCB if yes it would be safe yes. Sorry

Safe....... it's not possible unless you can perform magic

Two completely different drives and layouts if you can make that f**king thing fit you must be paul daniels.

If it wasnt a dumb question i would have said yeah go for it.

Tell you what just go for it and good luck ;)
why people are encouraging this i will never know.

I deal with these drives everyday and have done for years.

It's suprising how people will take anyones advice on a forum eh? I must admit TJ, i had a good laugh in this thread, priceless!

BTW, why dont you just use any pcb from any drive, they all look the same, in some way :p
