Just a little further info on that $99 deal. I checked into those at GameStop here. The console is only $99 yes but after you figure in the live contract it ends up costing a total of around $460. Complete rip off.
Like the guy at game stop said "Why buy that when you can get the 250G console right next to it which comes with a controller and a game plus still have enough money left over to buy xbox live out right and still have money left over.".
I'm glad you snagged one because I didn't realize that the contract was written to the console. M$ sure is shady, crafty and greedy.

Hey guys I didn't want to come in on this post because I didn't know if I would be hijacking ,but I just had the same thing happened to an Xbox I purchased.I wind up making it a dual nand . on the Rgh side it still gives me the lock and on the retail side it gives me the lock so I'm hoping got the answer that you just gave will help me out as well thanks Btw it's a v3 corona 10/8/2012

unfortunatley the console would never be any good for live again,unless you make the payment.and without the acct orig used,not gonna happen.
personally,i feel ms should have a web page to check for these things,like a serial lookup. but alas ms is never gonna do anything to OUR benefit.

build a new nand using your consoles orig key.bin and fcrt.bin and use kv from a donor nand,and patch ur orig nand dvd key to it.this fixes it for me,seems nothing else i tried seems to work.but as stated,this is only good for rgh,not a stock console,so demons out

You only need to put a kv_dec.bin from another console into xebuild/data (and rename to kv.bin). J-Runner will do the rest.

true nuff,jrunner kept giving me and bio issues few weeks ago for this,last i heard from stef bug was fixed though,the app crashed back then,so you mayyyyy end up using a dif tool,but try martins suggestion first,my ways a bit more involved.

HECK YEAH!!! Got mine to work ....I was a little nervous about first. But i went to jrunner, did the KV patch as its a 1532 drive ,the created a nand without a nanddump like martin said. Moved over a kv.bin from another slim v3 , fcrt_rn.bin,key.bin, C-R.bin and SMC_en.bin, let j-runner to it's magic. Booted Xell but didn't have my com port hooked up so i waited till my controller to glow ...counted to 30, turned off, waited 1 minute , powered on .it went straight to FSD! http://team-xecuter.com/forums/member.php/176916-nofeloniesyetBIG thanks to nofeloniesyet and Martin C .

nice,good to know jrunner is now working for this,it didnt when i had my first one come in shop,but it was said to be fixed,i just stuck to my other method that works

Seems pretty lame there is no way to just pick up where the previous owner stopped paying. Or some other way to re activate it for a fee or something. Going to have to keep an eye for a used locked one somewhere sucks it cant be used for demon though. Brand new dual nand......would not get it cheap though otherwise i guess.

it goes on ur credit is what he meant with gettin hit,it is an agreement after all,you pay by the month,thats y its 15 bux a month,hes sayin the 24 months at 15 a month add up to well over just buying a console outright.we all know you can get 2 years of live for roughly 100, and at 15 a month for 2 years,thats 360 bux,hey nice,wonder if they worked it out that way,lol
guess this is ms way of getting to the "rent to own" market.

I agree it is a total scam for 99.00 plus 15.00 a month for 24 mos. I paid 50.00 for the one I hav plus 12.00 shipping but this was just for the console which isn't too bad some people paid 200.00 or more on ebay for their system and after 30 days or so it was locked.
When I did call and talk to M$ they told me to bring it into a pawn shop since most just turn it on to make sure it starts up and thats it, what a bunch of scammers.
