Im not a big fan of QSB's. When you mess up on them its not fun. Im the type that if something goes wrong during a RGH install and i cant figure it out i take everything off, write original nand, and restart completely over. When you have a slim post QSB or maybe even a demon on board i dont see why you cant use a heat gun to remove them. I mean yes we have to put the CPU/GPU into consideration because the board will get very hot but would it actually melt any solider under the CPU/GPU? Could you be carefull enough with the board that after you pulled the QSB off (From the heat of the heat gun) to not bump or move the board and so it can cool. I mean it wouldn't be any different then a reflow.
I just tryed it on a dead slim motherboard and i feel it worked really good, the GPU got hot enough to burn my finger  but wasent able to move it at all when i pushed on the side of it. I cant tell if it worked because the slim is dead.
Conclusion : I think you can remove QSB's with a heat gun if you spray the hot air AWAY from the CPU/GPU so it wouldn't get any direct hot air. While your putting hot air in the area of the QSB have something underneath it pulling up with enough force to not lift any pads on the motherboard but enough force to lift the QSB when the solider reaches melting point. After this do not move board at all and let cool for 30 minutes.
What do you guys think?
