Using dash update to restore dvdkey

Hello,
I was wonder about a idea that if the dash update
reflashes you drive and uses the key from the nand KV,
Then it will restore a wiped dvdkey to the correct one.
The FAQ says it doesn't work, but someone on this forum
said it worked for him. He used a blank drive and got it back.
So my question is, Has can anyone confirm this? What dash did you have?
Which drive? FW? Mobo?

If it does work it should have got more attention.
I would have posted in that thread but I've got no access...
Thanks ahead,
Paul.

Good to know,
Do you know how the drive sends it it to the motherboard?
Is it encrypted with the same key? Maybe it sends a hash of it to be checked against hash of the key in KV?

this does not work at all.i have also seen a thread on here with some guy claiming to have gotten a benq box back working with this method, but i even tried it myself, knowing it wasnt gonna work, and sure enough no it does not work.as stated before in this thread the box will use whatever keys on the drive, not the key from keyvault.

The official update can re-flash a DVD drive to whatever firmware is selected. It would be incredible if this were possible under some sort of homebrew updater. How cool would it be if we could flash a XBOX DVD Drive right form the XBOX itself.

I wonder how that would work with locked Slim drives? Can a future official dash update re-flash them once locked by 13146+?

of course liteon/microsoft have some way to get back into these drives. i would imagine it being a simple lock /unlock command string but i do not see them sending that command to the drives,as then we can see it,and stop all this kamikaze and sputnic crap to unlock them.sh*t the kamikaze hack alone has prolly boosted ms console sales by 1% lol

Just to know, with with drives have you tried it and what FW and key was on them?

I updated an old Xenon in hopes of getting the DVD key back after I realized the drive was lost.

No error on the update but the DVD was not written to it.

I remember hearing it was only on models with certain DVD drives. I dont think there has ever been any confirmation on what models it was or why.

Some members here have stated that it worked for them..... I trield it when the first "flash" dash update was released "It didn't work" I posted in the thread that was going at that particular time that it wouldn't work but you could successfully update without error if you have a fw on the drive.....Some were quick to say I was wrong and that it worked!

There is a key to run an Xbox, so this is exact science. So, if it was lost, you need to get a copy to make it run again. It might just be a 1 out of million coincidence if it worked by just updating.
