Hi!
I'm about to RGH my console (not by myself though), and I bought an external 2.5" 1TB WD HDD. I'd like to know if I can create a fat32 partition on the drive (I thought of 750 GB) and everything will work smoothly.
Thanks in advance.. =]

Well, that's a bummer. are you 100% positive, or that I have a small opening for hope after all? Plus, if the above is certain- can I store Misc. files (mostly backups from my PC) on the HDD?

you can store what ever you want as long as it does not exceed the storage rules of fat32 (4.5GB i think)

Havn't tried it with partitions, but my 250GB (yah, small) was recognized and after being "configured" shows up in dash as a 16GB MU.
Your box recognized your NTFS HDD? so I don't have to convert my HDD to FAT32? or maybe I've mixed everything..?

You have to format it to fat32 to have access to the whole drive. This is done from your pc don't let the xbox format it or you will only have access to a maximum of 16gb.

okay, I want to try the partition thing- but if the xbox does format the HDD, can I format it again to FAT32 on my PC and the xbox will recognize the full capacity?

if you partition it to 750gb it will only see 1 750gb drive, your better off leaving the dwhole drive formatted as a single fat32 drive
if I understood you correctly, the XBOX will recognize the hdd only as a 750GB drive, but my pc will recognize the 2 partitions..?
