Using OFW + CFW Combo online without accidentally updating OFW?

As the title says,
I am trying to keep my OFW at 6.2 but I want to continue playing online games like Mario kart 8 DX and Splatoon 2. What are others doing to keep from updating while still playing online?

(If this is in the wrong area, sorry)

Do I just have to stay offline until a SX OS that’s 7.0 compatible drops?

I'm in the same boat, trying to play online but Diablo requires an update to 7.0. I'd like to keep CFW on 6.2 if its possible.

For my “online” cfw + ofw switch I don’t have any XCI or such installed, so (temporarily) losing cfw isn’t such a big thing. I mostly use it for client side loading mods and save backups/restoring. I wish there was a sticky for how to play legally owned online games without setting off nintendo’s AutoUpdates.
Kinda sucks going into online blackouts whenever a new firmware comes out. Maybe one day a reliable workaround will come out but I guess nobody out there has a solution yet.

If you want to play online, then update your console. We obviously have advised against this for the sake of CFW for the time being. That's your choice.

Just be patient.

Sorry. Didn’t mean to sound impatient. I just always hear about people being able to preserve their ability to play online without having to update when new OFW drops and was wondering how it was done. I usually just play my offline games during this blackouts. Thanks for the response anyways.
