Hello!

There is so little info, or well, all the info is scattered very well...

I managed to get Trinity to glitch in almost reasonable time(20s) with CR4, and now i decided to try rater.
Now i'm confused that, is the rater supposed to alter some booting values in the chip in any way, or is it just a logging feature?

If so that all it does is log, how i should use the data i get out of it? Meaning, how it helps me get better booting times?

If anyone could help, i would appreciate :)

It's solely for debugging/fine tuning. It's a tool for you to log boot times with different settings (without having to sit there and count pulses and write stuff down etc). For the more experienced guys they can actually read the post data and debug problems.

Ok. So there is not any publicly known formulas or things that could point me to some direction what to tweak next.

I have been told to try DIP settings first, then postbit and then capacitors. If DIP's 3&4 work but not great, try 3 or 4 only. You can also work your way down, 4&5, 5 only, 5&6 or 6 only. You can also try combos, 3&6 has been mentioned a couple of times. Once you get your best values, try changing the postbit jumper from the 0 default to 10ohm and/or 100ohm. You can then tweak beyond that with caps, but that part is voodoo to me.

There is some information about rater in THIS thread.

Also THIS post combines alot of the xecuter guides for slims, look through it for various entries about tuning.

UNDERSTANDING POST CODES

The POST codes can seem a bit daunting - like we said this isn't for amateurs. However, once you get used to using RATER it becomes reasonably straight forward so don't panic

  • Full fail = 0xA0 as last post
  • 0x21 or 0x22 or 0x87 as last post means that all checks were passed but something went wrong, possibly glitch timing wrong or too deep
  • If u get all 0xA0 on any dips then install is wrong, like cpu_rst or E/F is badly soldered
  • If you get 0x21, this usually means you are 1 DIP past optimal e.g DIP 4 gives 21-22 and DIP 5 gives 21.
  • Sometimes it will fail on 0x2E - this is way down on the boot cycle. This generally points to bad wiring or that an RROD is on the way and a reflow may be required or ideally a reball, specifically on the CPU.
Oh, there's the info. Thanks :)

You won't get those post codes with a CR4 that I recall.
