using xbmc as a dash board

i have bee trying to use xbmc working as my main dash board in the c drive. On my old xecuter 2.somthing bios it would launch from here C:/xbmc/defult.xbe but can i get this to hapen using x3 bios ??? i tryed just dumping all the files in to the c drive with out it being in its own folder and renaming the .xbe to xbmc.xbe then specifiing in x3 that that is the prefered dash. but when it trys to launch it it give me an error message about the languages folder??? y this should hapen as it ran perfectly when it was in a folder seems crazy to me. Any way what am i doing wrong??? thanks

1. make dir

2. copy all files but the xbmc.xbe and the xboxmediacentre.xml into this folder keeping the original folder structure

3. edit the xboxmediacentre.xml so the <HOME> entry points to the dir
e.g <HOME>c:\xbmc\</HOME>

4. put xbmc.xbe and xboxmediacentre.xml in root of c drive

5. run xbmc.xbe

done

ok im confused i put xbmc.xbe and xboxmediacenter.xml in the C:\ i then put a folder named xbmc into the C:\ i then edited the xboxmediacenter.xml and changed the apropriet setting 2 "<home>C:\xbmc\<home>" this should know boot corectly.... it does not i get an error like this "Q:\language\english\strings.xml, Line 0" what am i still doing wrong ???

thanks wolf now one more thing is y when i boot to it does it always open looking at my music folder and not on the hoame page ??

The reason you are getting the language error is because xbmc is not finding the files it neededs , refer to my first reply.
The reason it is not starting in the correct screen I am guessing is because you have a non-standard/badly editted xml file.

Change the <startupwindow> value back to the default value of 0. You might want to go to the forums over on www.xboxmediacenter.com for support. You're not going to get as good support on an application on a modchip forum.

i think it looks pretty cool to be honest and it seems alot faster.
