v 1.6 video problem

i have chipped a friends 1.6 with pin header and then wire instead of rebuild. boots with dissabled fine, when enabled turns on but no video or sound after many hours in forum i found a thread that says flashbios 3.0.3 will sort it, loaded 3.0.3 still no change


please help

If you read the forums, you'll see that 3.0.3 will not work with the 1.6.

Boot from the backup BIOS - it should load FlashBIOS 3.0.0 which *does* work for the 1.6

How did you load 3.0.3? If you have a working FlashBIOS, why are you trying to flash your chip with another FlashBIOS???

Total waste of time IMHO.

sorry my mistake its a 1.6 b

i used my xbox to put 3.0.3 on the chip

when i boot into backup i get the standard purple, but still no screen activity

ok - you're flashing the chip in your Xbox to get FlashBIOS 3.0.3 onto it.

Are you going into the X3CL screen and selecting the option to flash the backup BIOS?

If not, then it won't be touched. If you've been flashing it via the FlashBIOS screen, then it will only affect the banks you've selected.

managed to sort out video problem but now halfway through flashing bios it crashes every time.(using 1959 bios). any suggestions?

Boot your chip to FlashBIOS 3.0.3 (using whatever switches you need to).

Once in flashBIOS, set the switches to the 1MB Bank you want to flash to.

Read this for bank selection.

If you boot to a 512k bank then it will stop halfway through as you've filled the bank but still have half the BIOS to flash.

yep done that now after putting 1959 on the box it shuts down and when i bootit back up it does the three times start then frag?????

any hints?

What bank switches did you select before you flashed it?

Did you remember to flash the X3_1959plus16 BIOS as you have a 1.6? (as per the readme.txt file)

Ideally, you should have set them to on on off off off prior to flashing and left them there on the reboot.

Selling Banned Xbox

Hey Everyone,

i am thinking of selling my banned xbox as spares, i just wanted to know what parts get banned so i know what i can and cant sell.

The whole console is banned along with the content on the hdd. But the dvd drive and hdd would be usable on a different console. If it works sell it as one unit, and dont mention it being modded just say it's banned if you plan to sell it on ebay.

thanks for the reply but i would like to sell it on ebay so i was going to sell it as spares,
so i just want to know what bit i can and cant sell, becuase i know what is like getting banned and i dont want to let it happen to anyone else.

Go to the dashboard and test the connection, if it say's connected to xbox live your profile is banned not the xbox.
The parts dont get banned just the motherboard. But the dvd drive & motherboard (if it has the old dashboard, but if it has that it's jtagable & more valuable then a normal xbox) are the only things worth selling, the fan's and front botton board dont go for much. And spoofing a different brand dvd drive can get you banned, but the buyer should know that.
