A Christmas present and you are already concerned? Shouldn't you be waiting until Dec 23 or something and then getting angry because people don't reply 10 seconds after you post? :)

So did you already swap the DVD drives? Does the eject/power light flash at all when it locks up. I would look to make sure you didn't pinch any wires when you put the Xbox back together.

If the problem is with your soldering simply removing the chip doesn't prove anything. You have the wires or the pinheader. as well as any LPC rebuild and D0, HDD and LAN soldering you did. The goal is to get the Xbox back to stock and go from there.

ive tryed it from stock, thats why i said its not the chip, i removed that after trying new rom,i bought it as a faulty box "doesent read discs" so i chiped it tryed it,it worked, then problem 2 this problem "keeps freezing" so removed chip, same thing so put it back in ,and now trying to solve it. i shouldent have put it back in realy but never mind about that, thats my fault im leaning towards a new board what do you think? ile try hdd 1st to eliminate that to your comments are read and very helpfull :)

hmmmm if u had this problem before you even started to chip it you will prollybe winning a loosing battle!
did you get it off ebay per chance?
unless you are going to check the mobo trace by trace, chip by chip, resistor by resistor, etc by etc then its a door stop!

sorry man!

yeah its spares really unlesssss..... you wanna send the board away to be tested and fixed. there is a company out there that charge £50 i think to check and fix the board, but if they find it beyond repair there is no refund!
Its a big chance you take.
eBay really is a bad place to buy xbox from! you know you are going to get dead items there!
