Hey guys, my friend has a v1.0 xbox and he has solder covering the holes where the pins are supposed to go, so he wants to use that other piece that came with the kit to solder directly to the existing solder. Is there a tutorial that I have missed for that? I want to forward that to him..

Use the sticky pad that came with the x3 kit and stick the x3 to the side on the metal case by the dvd drive.

MAKE sure that you have all of the back on the x3 covered with the sticky pad or tape before sticking it to the metal case. If not you will short it out.

On my Xbox 1.0 I was told in other posts to use a de-soldering pump to remove the solder from the holes and was assured many times that it is super easy, well in my opinion it wasn't! My advice if you still have solder in the holes is definitely USE THE WIRE INSTALL METHOD, it is super easy all I did was heat the solder and stick the wire in. The wire install diagram fron the FAQ guide worked perfectly thanks Team Xecuterfor this. The only hard part is the D0 wire, I fried my 1.4 Xbox and threw it away before I found that I probably couldv'e fixed the trace. But thankfully I saved the DVD and hard drive because the crappy Thomson drive could barely read OEM Xbox discs much less a Bios CD! Hope this helps I went through alot of hell trying to get my Xbox to the dream machine it is now LOL

Also FYI if your friend has the first version of the X3 chip you need to cover the metal pin that sticks out from the bottom either with some electrical tape or take about 1/2" of the insulation of some kind of wire(I used speaker wire) and slip it over it or else if you stick the chip to the side of the inside of your case it will short out!
