I have a v1.0 that i just did a wire install for an xecuter 2.6ce. I checked all the traces for continuity on multiple points on the board from the trace to where the chip plugs in at. i checked the continuity for the D0 wire also. When i disconnect the d0 wire, it boots like normal to the MS dash but when i connect it, it frags. everything looks great when i test the sodler points and they arent messy at all.

I have tried(with the externam programmer) flash bios (3.0.1 and 3.0.3) on the first bank then i tried the x2_4972_final_v1.0_1MB and none of those would work. is there some special bios for the 1.0 xboxs?

What do you think the problem is?

First off, that bios is very old. Get 5035, and be sure to use the version for your Xbox. The problem could be your soldering, it could also be the connection between the switches and the wire. Make sure both ends are properly seated. Does the Xbox work with the chip off?

Since it works with the chip off, there is a problem with your install. Check your soldering again.

thats what im about to do tonight. I desodlered the wire install(took the wires off) and am desodlering part of the solder out of the holes to get the 'top layer' off and then im redoin the soldering. I hope it works.

Be careful removing that solder. In all honesty, there really isn't any need to remove any of it. There really shouldn't be a top layer, because once you heat the solder up and push the wire into it, you will be "mixing" the solder up. If you get that done and it still has problems, check your wires going to your switches. That could be the cause of your frag as well. Good luck!
