I just installed my friends xecuter 2.6ce in his v1.0 xbox. i checked all of the voltage points and they all check out good. I also checked the continuity of the D0 wire and it checks good also. I am stuck on what to do. I downloaded the EvoX V2.6 - V1.0 BIOS to the 2nd bank and FlashBios 3.0.1 to the first bank. It wont boot up at all, all it will do is frag. any advice on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.

ps: does the LAN led have to be soldered for it to boot?

Alright i jsut remembered taht my friends 1/6 was doin the same thing, i resoldered the d0 wire and it worked perfectly. i resoldered my d0 wire nad it still doesnt work.

If i take the d0 wire and directly ground it on the case, and if it doesnt boot it rules out its the d0 wire?

just a thought

1. Why did u use the (in my opinion) inferior evox bios and not the most up to date xecuter bios?

2. The LAN wire does not have to be soldered / connected in any way for the chip to opreate as normal. (my first couple of installs i never bothered with the LAN or HDD wires, did not see the point just for a couple of pretty flashing leds on the switchbank)

3. If it were as easy as grounding the D0 to any ground point on the board to get it to boot why on earth would we be made to solder it to that pissy tiny little spot.

Usually FRAG's are the result of poor installs on the LPC, however this is not the case, since you have been able to boot the machine to flashbios, in order to reflash the chip with the alternative evox bios, it sounds as though the flash has gone wrong or the bios you have is the wrong type or possibly dodgy.

Sounds as though you are gonna need a programmer.

Huh? it hasnt been bootingup at all. i tried the new X2.5035 bios and it still doesnt work.

My question about the grounding d0 is taking the wire fron the d0 small pad and grounding that out. any other advice?

All the voltages check out good and with the xbox off, i check the continuity of the d0 wire on 2 different traces and its good.

could it be the switch/chip suddenly gone bad?

ok you are thinking grounding out the d0 like the old cheapmods did you are not using a cheapmod you are trying to use a x2.6 on a 1.0 look at my sig i have the same set up.
now, if you are not getting the flash bios screen now or EVER, then you have other issues, but
if you HAD the flash bios screen, the solder is/was correct. you just botched the chip flash. and in my personal opinion, its a mistake to sell these chips with out an external programmer manadatory included. I love my programmer, its the only way to flash your chip with what ever bios you like.

which by the way for a 1.0 means a 1mg flash not a 256 or 512, you need the full 1mg on a 1.0

where do you get the full 1 megabite file, or do you just load the 256kb file to all 4 banks in the xecuter bios manager(i know theres only 2-512 banks on the chip)? I have the programmer and i loaded flashbios on 'bank' 1 and 2, then the xecuter file to banks 3-4 through the X2 programmer 2.3 program. i took off the d0 wire to the chip and it powers on the chip but doesnt boot the chip, just boots like normal(what i expected). does this mean its the flash that was bad or the d0 wire? or somethin else? thanks in advance

YOU DO NOT NEED A 1 MEG FLASH FOR A 1.0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The 1.0 TSOP is a 1 meg chip, but that has absolutely nothing to do with a mod chip. Just like in every other version Xbox, the X2.6 has two 512k banks.

Sorry dude, I disagree - there are plenty of tutorials out there on how to flash a chip. A programmer isn't necessarily the only way to flash a chip - FlashX is an excellent program to use if you can load it from a dashboard. Also, making a BIOS Flash CD, or flashing via a network connection is not difficult, as ling as tutorials are followed.

Also, why would a version 1.0 Xbox require a full 1Mb X2.5035 flash? I can't understand this.
