alright guys ive been reading and reading and i'm totally nervous. i had a v1.0 xecuter 2lite 100gb hdd but it was stolen out of my hotel room at work...i loved the x2 lite. so now back to square one. i bought the X3 and think its a whicked chip but too many horror stories. could anyone answer a few questions for me? i think im over reacting but i dont feel like buying my 3rd machine (if i wreck this one). i bought another v1.0 cause of the problems people are having with the 1.6. could someone please send me the link to an install diagram for the v1.0 wire install THEY used without incident. and also from my understanding for the 1.0 you do not have to solder the HDD, D0 and LAN wires; but if i do....am i going to burn something??? ive been pondering this install for a few days...i really hope over nothing, thankx a bunch guys.

Dude, the wire installation diagrams are in this very forum on a sticky, and are from Team Xecuter themselves. They are correct.

Personally, I still did a pinheader install on my v1.0.

As regards the D0, LAN and HD wires, then of the three, only the D0 wire is essential. If you are not going to be using the external switch assembly, then you don't have to bother soldering the LAN & HD wires. That being said, the D0 wire is the hardest one to solder, so if you can do that one OK, then you can manage the other two OK.

Make sure you use a low wattage soldering iron with a fine tip (a 15W iron with a 0.5mm tip is ideal for the novice solderer) and practice your soldering on an old circuitboard beforehand. Use flux cored solder along with additional flux, and clean any points you are going to solder to, with a fibreglass pencil before soldering.

If you are in any doubt about your soldering abilities, then buy one of the just released solderless Xapt3r devices - according to Xecuter, these should be in the hands of the resellers very shortly.
