Hi,

I am trying to load 3294 via http.

Initial attempts to load this BIOS by following the FAQ's failed with the instructions given:

X3 switch set to Unprotected (Green LED) + external switches on on off off off

This resulted in the message:

Got BIOS image over http, 1048576 bytes
Unknown flash! Halting

I then tried it with the X3 switch set to Protected (Red LED) and this seemed to get me somewhere. I get the yellow bar completing which indicates that the erasing step is working and then I get the green bar completing all the way to the end. However it then says Programming Failed. The eject button light flashes green and amber and the XBox doesn't reboot.

If I power off and then on again (quick press) I get the XBox logo and the Xecuter Rox My Box logo and it just sits there.

After that what should happen?

I can still boot the XBox to normal MS mode (long press on power switch) and get the original MS dashboard and I can still get to the FlashBios 3.0.1 screen (power + eject) so I'm guessing my install must be working?

Thanks
Kevin

Unprotect is actually a red switch... Red indicating.. warning not protected!
Green meaning its safe to go.

Anyway, not sure exactly what it is.. try download the bios again and attempt another flash. Make sure your chip is in properly and connections are solid. It doesn't seem to be flashing properly for some reason could be a loose connection, or corrupt file. I'm not too sure, someone else might have other suggestions.

Hi Poida^

The print on the PCB says -

Red: Protect
Green: Unprotected

And I just went by that but I'm happy to accept that it means the opposite.

Thats the PCB... and thats right.... I think? Now I'm confused.. Oh well...
The Control Panel and X3 Switch are the oppsite.. Protect Button IN is ON, Out is OFF.
Like how the switch buttons are IN and light up.

I'm just going by the Control Panel...

Hopefully you get ur xbox working though.

I'll add to this mystery... even though its not helping with your problem :)

I didn't want to open up my Xbox to check the PCB, so I flipped through the X3ce.pdf installation guide to look for pics... LOL

Page 13/18: Red:Unprotect/Green:protect

Thats consistent with the control panel... This is weird though...
But the colours without reading print make logical sense to me...

I went back and double checked my X3 PCB. It's definitely the opposite of the installation guide (http://teamxecuter.entryhost.com/x3ce.pdf).

The guide says:

Green: Protect
Red: Unprotect

My PCB says:

Green: Unprotect
Red: Protected

However it appears to function as per the guide (when the LED is red it allows writing to the flash). I'm guessing it's a misprint on the PCB.

Anyway...when the X3 is correctly flashed with a BIOS such as 3294 from xbins, what should happen? Bear in mind I haven't loaded any new dashboards or software to the XBox HDD.

When the X3 is correctly flashed without any other dashboards on HD, it will boot to M$ Dash.

It should load into X3 Config Live... after the Flubber and Xecuter Rox My Box Logo screens.

Have you tried other things bioses?

Hi Guys,

Cheers for the info.

I'll try a fresh copy of X3 later just in case it got clobbered on the download last time.

Interestingly enough, I found that if I boot and hold down the white button on the controller it does load the MS dash and then it will subsequently boot MS dash all the time (without the white button being pressed).

That said I see no evidence of the X3 Config Screen. Is there a set of hot keys that should always bring up the Config screen?

For first time flash on default settings, it should just load to the X3 Config live screen.

Stone me! I got it working. Instead of using FlashBIOS 3.0.1 to flash the BIOS I switched to banks 5,6,7,8 (off on off off) and it booted FlashBIOS 3.0.3. I then flashed over http and the box switched itself off as per the guide. When it powered up it went to the X3 Config live screen.

Cheers for help guys.
