if i am going to be using the xapt3r on a version 1.0 do I have to remove the solder in my LPC or will it just plug on top of the solder.

Radio Shack Has A Desoldering iron less than $15 this is the best way...desoldering braid will help also.

kinect and modded xbox's .....question?
OK so I have read around the net that the kinect has to connect to live once set up and download software that the new dashboard is not the software for the kinect just that is has setting options for it. but that the real software has to be downloaded once set up.
second thing the active profiles used with kinect(the ones that let you just right into the games with out logging in) are not going to be stored on the local drive but on microsofts cloud servers something to do with the way it operates.
OK so my question has any one bought a kinect hooked it up to live and played using a modded box? if so what happened.
If all this is true then between the ap2.5 stuff, the new wave 7, the new dashboard, and the kinect hardware. Microsoft is really laying it to us this time. now just waiting for the bans to start. I have a hunch it may start tomorrow once the black op servers go live for launch. and everyone tries to connect with time stamped achievements from playing early.

Just played Black Ops Online for the first time, was on for about an hour, 12:45am GMT and there were 191643 people on playing it.. i can garuntee at least half of those were downloaded copies and yet nothing has happened yet.
As for the Kinect downloadable dashboard we cannot comment on this side of the pond yet as it doesnt get released till wednesday.. hopefully its just a rumor tho, tho i have read on a gamestation advert that the kinect needs an average of 200mb hdd space for software, not sure if this is operating software or if its dashboard software but its all starting to put me right off the idea of me being the controller

If you google kinect dashboard update etc... you will find the file you can put on a cd or jump drive and update the dashboard with... then hook up kinect and calibrate the system and away you go. As for the xbox live portion, kinect does automatically prompt you for xbox live... but later in the calibration you can pick a later option. So your all good! Hope this helps!

The dashboard update comes on the game "Kinect Adventures" packaged with the Kinect. I did this last night and it updated my dashboard from the disc. Worked great since this Xbox is banned from online.

O.k. thanks everyone for telling me all about the ways to get the new dashboard. But, that was not my question. My first question was that i read that the kinect needed additional software to run that was not included in the new dashboard and that it connected to live to download this additional software and if anyone could confirm this.
Just a personal frustration point i want to make not trying to offend anyone but why is it no one reads the posts before answering them? not just mine but i see lots of posts were people are answering questions that were not asked. do people just not read? I mean in my first question I state that it needed software that was not part of the NEW DASHBOARD and yet everyone tells me how to get the new dashboard? just curious.

And no offense to you but if you would have read what i typed "you will find the file you can put on a cd or jump drive and update the dashboard with... then hook up kinect and calibrate the system and away you go." Meaning if there were any other steps or software needed i would have described it to you. So in return i answered your question. But i do understand that alot of posts dont get directly answered sorry if you read or took my post the wrong way.

This is something thats confusing me too, i understand we needed the update for the 360 to be "kinect ready" but after looking at a few console shops and xbox.com i have read connect also needs 190mb of free hdd space for additional software, what additional software should it need other than what we now already have?harlaquin said:

Because i updated a console via jumpdrive so the kinect wasnt even connected at the time, nor was i online
