Hello all. I decided to give the X3 a try after reading all the rave reviews of the product. This is my first xbox mod. After opening up my v1.6 xbox, reading the installation guide many, many times, and practicing my soldering technique for a while, it was time to get started. After about 30 minutes of really taking my time, then checking all solder points several times - I was done with the soldering portion of the install. Or so I thought... I installed the motherboard back into the case, connected the X3 and all wires to the board, crossed my fingers and quickly tapped the power button. The system fan never spun up, and a blue light flashed for about 1 second on the front of the X3. Pushing any combination of the power or eject buttons yielded the same result. I figured that the problem could therefore be narrowed down to my solder points. I removed the board and felt reassured to see that the LAD1 wire was not soldered down...until I inspected closer and noticed that the tiny metal point on the board itself was attached to the tip of the yellow wire and was no longer fixed to the board. I was worried, but figured that this could be repaired simply enough with a circuit writer pen. I searched the forums, found a method posted by BLUEku for repairing a broken trace, and applied that method to my particular situation. Unfortunately that did not work, after several attempts. The good news is that nothing is fried, as I can still boot normally into the M$ dash. But I now fear that If i tamper any more with this part of the board that something will get fried and i'll be out the cost of another new xbox, or atleast the cost of another motherboard. So my question is, can anyone recommend a fix? Is there another location that I could solder to for the LAD1 (such as the front side of the board possibly??) ANY and ALL suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
