v1.6 X3 problem: Only works when powered using eject button

Hi all,

I have a v1.6 with the X3 installed. When I power on the Xbox using the power button I get a Red X on the switch and it doesn't boot correctly.

If I power up the Xbox by pressing the eject button the DVD tray slides out and I get a Blue X on the switch. The Xbox boots correctly and I have access to the installed dashboard. This works every single time.

I can only assume the problem lies with the no-solder daughterboard for the power switch. Has anyone else had any issues like this?

Thanks!

First of all, try pressing only the power button as FAST AS POSSIBLE. It seems like every X3 behaves slightly different for the power button speed. After I modded one unit, I had the same problem and I also thought the daughterboard was defective. After trying the power button a few more times, I realized that it just had to be hit EXTREMELY FAST. My other units don't seem to be that sensitive. Try it out before you decide to send the daughterboard back for a replacement. One other thing .... the system runs fine without the daughterboard in place. You just can't boot into the alternate modes. I know this because 1 of my X3s came with a defective daughterboard that is in the process of being replaced. So, if the eject button problem really bothers you, you can just leave out that adapter all together.

Thanks kowrip. I'll give both of your suggestions a try. BTW, I forgot to mention that it was a Green HALO version xbox that was being modded. Just thinking out loud if the power button sensitivity is specific to that model.....

I guess it could be either a switch issue or an X3 issue. The X3 is what determines a "short press" vs. a "long press". So, it's possible that there's some setting in the X3 circuitry that has some variance. In any case, mine is still running with no daughterboard and it's working fine. When I get the replacement daughterboard, I'll hang onto it just in case I ever need to boot from the backup BIOS in an emergency.

The suggestion of pressing the power button 'quickly' worked! I was able to successfully boot every time. I had to press it very fast vs. the normal press time. Boy is it sensitive......

Thanks again.

Internet Re-Routing

I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me figure out how to re-route a wireless internet connection from my laptop, through an ethernet cable, to my 360.

Am I able to do it with a regular ethernet cable? Or will I need a crossover cable?

Re: Internet Re-Routing

you have to use a crossover cable to connect from ethernet port to ethernet port....... and then manually set the ip address on each machines.
