The console I'm repairing had what I originally thought was a laser issue due to the dvd drive not reading any discs properly.
I ordered a replacement BenQ VAD6038 drive from eBay and flashed the key onto it. Both drives fail to actually read anything.
Sometimes I get Play Game on the dash and the drive will spin up and then die down immediately and kick me back to the dash or it says Play DVD. I figured the drive I got from eBay was bad, so I flashed it for another console and it proved to be working just fine on that console.
I've tried using different sata/power cable with the console and the drives. Nothing.
What could be causing this? Is something specific to this console faulty?
