First I would like to say I'm pleased to be part of a great community.
Great posts and tuts here all the way around.

I'm a little new with this, please bear with me. :)
I have a BenQ VAD6038.. I successfully flashed the drive with LT 1.1 a few months ago.
Then one day I attempt to play a disk and I get "open tray".
I've purchased a new laser, tweeked the POT to no avail.

Soon after I purchased a new drive altogether and I should receive it anytime now.
My question is would it be okay to have the original key from the broken drive (LT 1.1) to be the SOURCE and LT+ 2.0 be the target then spoof the drive?

Or do I have to go back to STOCK prior to re-flashing? If yes, do I use "stock firmware" via BenQ pre or post?
I notice that under "pre" there are like 10 to choose from....

Current dash: 2.0.12625.0
I just don't know the order on how to do this.
I don't want to mess this up because this is the 2nd drive I've purchased because I didn't stop and ask someone on how to re-flash the new drive.

One other thing; this LT+ 2.0 will play all other backups with no problem?
Thank you guys so much for your time and patience.

edit: flashing via SATA/MOBO

-Yes it is ok to use the key from the broken benq Lt1.1
-You should flash back to stock firmware from the pre folder
-Then update your dash to 13599
-Then flash LT+ v2.0

LT+ v2.0 plays all backups except forza 4 I believe

[2011-10-08 11:22AM UTC] #c4e <c4eva> fw is fine, working on forza 4 [Editor's note: c4eva has advised that Forza 4 should not be booted due to new checks and that a fix in LT+ is forthcoming]

Okay but there are like 10 different "pre" stock firmware and I'm not
100% on which one to use.

So plug in the new drive.
Use IX 1.1 from the broken drive as the SOURCE firmware.
Then have this "pre" stock firmware and flash it...
Power cycle the drive and then have STOCK as the source and IX 2.0 as target and then
flash?

Other than choosing which "pre" to use from the stock firmware folder
this order seems okay?

Before you flash lt+ update your console wo the latest dash while the drive is stock.
Just chose one of the stock firmwares that has the same model name as your drive.
