I have a Halo Edition Xbox which i believe is a 1.4 and i recently bought a 1.6 premodded xbox. When i flashed the software i got a Error Halting!! I think its because i used 1.4 software. The modchip flashed. Could i take out the modchip and harddrive and put it in my halo box.

No i dont think it is because you used the 1.4 software i think you just have your flash protection on you just have to turn that off on the chip

I agree with spunky2381, flash protection could be it.

Also, make sure that Halo is a 1.4. I purchased the HaloSE and mine is a 1.6. I believe the switch to the 1.6 was made around April 04. If the box came around that time double check.

Losing voltages after startup (E0001)

Ok, so in my last thread I had believed that I had a faulty power brick. This has turned out to be false as it worked in my friend's console and his power supply failed on mine. After doing a bit of research on the web to find the different power locations for the MOSFETs south of the GPU, I tested them to see if I could get a reading no matter how brief.

On the 12V MOSFET I had an extremely brief reading from the drain, but not on the source or the gate. I also got nothing on the 5V MOSFET on all 3 connections, leading me to believe that may be the one I toasted. I also used my meter on the pins sticking out of the bottom of the socket to measure the 3 12V pins, the 5V pin and the PWR ENABLE pin.

Now, on 2 of the 3 pins at startup, there is a brief current going through, and the 5V is constant both on and off like it should be. The PWR ENABLE is also receiving the 3.3V it needs to activate the 12V rails. I'm just wondering if anyone can help me find out why it keeps cutting out on me and giving me 0001. Once again, it is a Falcon, and this began when I used a multimeter to test what I believe is the gate on the 5V MOSFET. I may have connected the drain (the clipped middle pin) with the gate, overloading it possibly.

Any help is once again very much appreciated.

Note: I do plan on replacing them if they, or any other component is toast, so don't be afraid to make suggestions to me.

Re: Losing voltages after startup (E0001)

Well you have the same prob as one of my jtaged xboxs, I was messing around with the xbox cos it had rrod and i tried loads of random experiments on it rofl. And i shorted the gate to the source while it as turned on. Blaaaam! All you have to do is replace both mosfets with ones of the same model/part no. .. If that doesnt work then you probs gota replace the controll chip or what ever its called. its on the other side of the board around about the same place. if its falcon board its small and square. anything before falcon then its small and rectangler.

Oh and btw im pretty sure youve got it the wrong way round (source and gate). Correct me if im wrong and ur 100% sure. I just recently checked a pic about a hour ago.

Btw before you replace them... make sure you know what ur doing... There harder to remove than you think. I f**ked my board up beyond anything imaginable removing them. now the board is behind me in the bin...

Re: Losing voltages after startup (E0001)

I'm not certain on the gate / source pins, but I am on the drain ones. I also got them from a pic just earlier today from I think xbox-scene. I'm going to test each one to be certain before replacing them, and I have plenty of proper tools at my disposal to remove them without worry. To think this all began to get power for my external fan <_<. Anyways, thanks for the help!

Okay, and yeah im also certain about the drain. remember that you cant properly test a Mosfet until it has been removed from the board first. i read a tut on how to test one. i will send u link if u want

I might have seen that tut, but I wouldn't say no to a link if you have it handy.
