Very weird, perplexing

Here's the story:
1. Got xbox soft modded, played 1 game, xbox locked up
2. used evoxhdm recovered with a hot swap
3. works but wont load games only, dvd or from hdd, plays dvd movies however
4. got modchip, xecuter 2.6ce, soldered it in flashed bios for my xbox, which seems to be a 1.6, did the rebuild etc. when soldering
5. same thing boots fine, but won't launch dvd games
6. swapped out the hdd from this box with my other box that works fine(and has large # of games on it), tried to load a game from it wouldnt, tried to load dvd game..same thing
7. traded back the hdd's, tried loading a game on to the hdd with dvd2xbox, thinking at this point that it might be the dvd drive... same thing..

Has anybody heard tell of this before? any ideas? I've tried everything

bios is 5035 for the 1.6 xbox... please help

hi m8 it could be the version of your 5035 ,did you use the x2_5035_v16plus_512k (for 1.6 and 1.6b)

the x2_5035_vOld_512k is for versions (1.0 to 1.5)

it may be a good idea to get a copy of x2tool and make sure that in the dashboard area it has default.xbe in the default dvd/cd executible and once you load your rom image click on files ,goto config file click open and load the x2config.ini.

then you can double check everything is configurated to your approved settings.

it does sound like your default.xbe is to blame as thats what the bios looks for to run a game..... baz

It isn't the wrong version of the bios, the Xbox wouldn't boot if that were the case. What happens when you try to load the games?

when I try to load a game from the dashboard it fades out as if it is going to launch but then it jumps back to the dashboard (fades back not really jump)
with the soft mod I was able to play 1 game starwars battlefront II, then tried another game and it locked up at flubber screen, did hotswap and resurrected it but this game launching problem happened, so i installed modchip, same thing still happening. I can launch and applications or play a dvd movie but not a game...

Are these original games? Did they ever work?

it wont play original or backed up games ,and the backed up ones do work on my other xbox

sorry m8 but buying a mod chip to get your console working when it wasnt working in the first place doesnt sort out your problem,all you have done is ruled out that the bios chip aint the problem.

it could be a bad graphics chip or memory and when it loads a game it then fails which may not happen with smaller utils and programs

my advice is dont throw more money at it as consoles are quite cheep these days and you could sell your old console for parts or keep it yourself for spares (if it has a good cd/dvd rom that reads most disks you should keep it as a lot of xboxes have poor reader in them)

you can then use your mod chip again have spare controllers, power supply and even a spare case that you could mod with usb ports
