I install an X3 into a 1,6 xbox. I then started the box, I got a blue light on the external panel and two blue light on the modchip. When I started it, the xbox flash amber one time and then got solid blue. I got the flashing bios on the screen. I then flashed the modchip using network with the 1959 1,6 bios.

Now when I start the box the front light always flash amber, the fan turn like if I had put it at 100%, the starting screen is kind of blue and the flubber is not colored at 100% ( only the frame of it) then I get into the bios and they ask for a password.

When I disable the chip, the light is solid green and everything is fine.

It's not the firs time that I install a modchip nor a X3. ( about 10 of them )
I dont know what to do.

Do you have a hint ????

Ok. After flashing it with Evox M8 1.6 bios, everything is working fine, so I will check the pins that are supposed to be used only by the X3 tonight.

Hope it will work!

Flash help

I'll try to keep this short and sweet as you guys are busy and get the same questions over and over. Sorry.

I'm using Textbook's 360 for Dummies Firmware Tutorial but i'm having issues from the start. My fault, not the tutorial. I cant seem to identify which version of the DVD Drive I have. "MS28 or MS25"... I have the circular tray but the ID tags on the drive itself are way different. Can someone direct me in the right direction or give me some advice. Thanks.

Re: Flash help

Thanks. I went to that site but I only found the programs and hardware that you buy. Obviously I didn't search well enough.

Re: Flash help

use jungleflasher and the jungleflasher tutorial from
jungleflasher.net

it alot more simple.......

and on the label on the top of the drive
at the bottom it gives the model and firmware version.....
and it says ms=25 or ms=28...

Re: Flash help

Its recommended that you buy the via 6421A pci card, the ck3 connectivity kit or similar and the probe v2. Many people power the drive using the xbox, but this is tricky when power cycling the drive. People also try making their own probe, but this can also lead to problems. Better to buy these than try making them yourself, plus they aren't that expensive.

Re: Flash help

Let me get this straight. If I am wrong, please advise me. In order to flash the drive correctly, I need Jungle Flash, a Via 6421A PCI card, the CK3 connectivity kit and the Probe v2? I thought all I needed was a Via PCI card and flashing software like Jungle Flash. I also have the Hacking the Xbox 360 for Noobs Manual and I am thoroughly confused. As claytonmichael pointed out, I am sure you get these questions all the time from us noobs, but if I figure out how to modify my own Xbox 360, maybe I can be of more help to other people to do their own as well. I just do not want to attempt to flash my drive and something goes wrong.

Re: Flash help

Yes you need jungler flasher, a via 6421a pci card, ck3 connectivity kit and probe v2. The jungleflasher tutorial tells you everything you need to flash your drive properly.

Re: Flash help

ok, I ordered a via 6421a pci card, Team Xecuter CK3 PRO Rev D and Team Xecuter CK3 Probe V 2. They should be coming in the mail, but where in the JungleFlasher v0.1.74 manual will it tell me how to use these devices? I am a complete NOOB. I just really want to flash my drive on my own.

Re: Flash help

Ok, when you have installed your via card you need to remove the drivers for it. Details on how to do this are in the jungleflasher tutorial. You will need to download the usb serial driver for the ck3. Simply google ck3 vista (or xp) drivers. You will need to connect a sata cable to the primary port on the via card and make sure you have a spare molex power connector inside your pc You will also need to make sure that the usb cable is plugged into your ck3 and pc (if flashing a 7xxx series Liteon). Make sure that you plug the probe v2 into the ck3 and xbox drive correctly or you could fry the drive. There are little notches on each side of the connectors, so there is really only one way that they will fit. This is a rough picture showing how the ck3 should be setup. http://i37.tinypic.com/35n3q03.jpg

Out of curiosity which Liteon drive do you have?
