very weird xenon

Hello I had some one bring me a console that he wanted LT3.0 put on said the drive was flashed already but couldn't play copies of his newer games. He bought it on craigslist as is without the original firmware. I had him pop off the faceplate to see what dvd drive he had. Its a benq. I have benq original fw so I thought no problem flash it back to stock and update the dash for him. When he got here the console is a xenon and has a benq in it. But jungleflasher says its spoofed to a liteon dg16d2s the date code on case says 2010 but is definatly a xenon I'm guessing a refurb maybe but don't know.
Is there any way to tell what drive this thing is supposed to have in it so I can put it back to stock to update his dash?
I know I can rgh it to get the key but already have that and I've never done a xenon sucefully into xell couldn't upload pic of mobo but has "anna" chip

If you can get it to boot to xell get the cpu key with jrunner and it will tell you in the kv info box what type of drive and firmware it came with. Only way I know of.

What dash is it on now, does it play any games at all, and what specifically does JF report it spoofed as? If it plays games, whatever the heck JF says it's spoofed to is the correct drive for the system, drop one of those in with the same key as on the drive in there now and update.

The dash is 12625 I don't have any copies but it will play gow1 I have a liteon in one of my consoles that is stock but the dash nxe dash is 14719 rgh das 15574 will that matter with the fw being newer than his dash

It shouldnt matter, if you have the firmware pack with all the FW in, then chose the stock FW for that dash when flashing (pre 13141)

I think I trashed my liteon. Jungleflasher crashed during the erase prosess now drive won't recognise.ck3 won't even eject the tray. is there any way to save it? I have another liteon pcb I can use but now I'm really pissed givin up for the night before I throw my laptop acroos the street

Edit: got it to go into vender mode again and got his console updated thanks for the help I guess I just needed some sleep lol

I told him that but he said it was banned already.
He has a slim for online play he just wanted this in his kids room tired of them ruining his games.

It's not even for online purposes. MS do checks on the drive at system update. If the drive type doesn't match, the update can fail.

Yes martin that's exatly what was happening he tried to update it himself and showed me when he brought it here. Usb update. It extracted and started the update about a third of the way through the power light would start blinking like there wasn't a drive even hooked up. About 2/3 of the way through the update it would just stop on the update bar. What confused me the most was it was a xenon with 2010 date code on the case and jungle flasher said the benq was spoofed as a liteon. The serial number on the case matched the one on the cage and the one in dash. This was a big learning experience for me. I have never seen anything like it.

the original drive was definitely Lite On, I have similar Xenon 2010, which I want to get rid of, but nobody is interested in buying this piece of crap even 2010 with x-clamps and most likely free of RRoD problem.

I had to flash my liteon to work in his console to get it to update then put the benq back in.
As far as fixing my liteon not sure... I went to bed and tried to erase it again in the morning with a fresh head and got it to go into vendor mode. I must of been just missing something the night before

So when new dash comes out he's going to have the same problem again. I'd advise he gets a liteon drive to save on the hassel.

I told him the same thing.
He was lucky that I happened to have 3 jaspers with liteons in them.
I also told him that I didn't want to tear apart one of my xboxes everytime he needed a update.
There may be a time when I don't have a liteon on hand.
