VGA adapter/wiring

I'm soldering a VGA cable to the bottom of the motherboard. I used a multimeter to test which cables corresponded to which pin on the VGA cable, and I went to get a VGA adapter for the 360 so I could test which pins corresponded to which solder points on the motherboard, however every electronics/gaming store in the area is sold out of or doesn't sell the VGA adapter. I tried googling, but found only incomplete diagrams.

Also, outside of the mylar shield there was not only an aluminum braided wire shield, but a bare copper wire running along the outside, it didn't test continuous to anything on the connector, but when I solder it should I solder it to ground or something?

I would suggest if you have an extra set of av cables for your xbox using that instead and build a vga cable that just plugs into the av socket. I did it and it works just fine. Plus there are a bunch of pinouts to help with it in the net. But if you need any guidance I'm here.

The reason I'm doing it this way is multi-purpose:
1. it leaves the port itself free for use, perfect since VGA is splittable.
2. it saves space so there isn't a giant adapter sticking out of the back and looping back in.

Also, I don't have spare cables laying around.

Well in that case, desolder a vga port from an old graphics card or motherboard not in use, that you have no further plans on using.

All the ones with black dots are ground, the important ones are the color coded wires.

So, should I solder all the grounds together to the same pin, or split them up one by one?

Also, do I solder the braided wire shield or the copper wire that runs with it to ground or anything?

You really should dedicate a seperate ground for each video wire soldered to shield it from any interference. The braided ground should be grounded as well. Mine is on soldered as such as well.

I was planning on doing a separate ground for each of the video cable shielding wires, but that still leaves like half a dozen unaccounted for wires, do I just bunch those all together?

And I thought the braided ground should be grounded, I was just thrown off by the fact that it wasn't grounded in the cable itself.

Can you take a shot of the wires in your vga cable?

Scratch that cut them off. Cause the more I think about it the more I remember that those others aren't used.

There are 6 grounds that don't have to be soldered if I remember correctly from one 1 did.
