So I'm trying to flash my benq drive but I am having all kinds of issues with this via card I just bought to do this. On boot-up it says it is scanning IDE drives......then at the end when it is finally done scanning, it says, "The BIOS is not installed." Once booted, it also does not allow me to install the drivers for the card, I run the SETUP.exe in the drivers folder and all it says is Error: Driver could not be installed, hardware could not be detected, yet it shows in the device manager as RAID controller.

The best way to avoid problems like this is to buy a device designed to flash drives such as a X360 USB Pro. Not to be an ass but this is a Team Xecuter support forum and your not using any of their products so I doubt you'll get much help.

I just find that it would be financially stupid of me to buy a $60 item for a one-time flash... I also have a Benq drive and know that it can be done with only a VIA 6421 card.

But again, not to be an ass but this is an Xecuter support forum. You may get someone to respond with help but I kind of doubt you'll find the solution here. The best advice I can offer is to google your error along with other appropriate key words.

for the cost of 1 game you will have a hassle free solution

how did you plan to back up your retail discs ? surely not with a via card

you can get support with your VIA card at #jungleflasher @ efnet

Also read your junglefalsher pdf, it says not to install drivers for the via6421. Read the pdf before u struggle anymore.
you need to install the drivers then remove/rename the viaxxxx.sys this will give code 39 which is required
not installing at all will give code 28 which will not work so you need to install drivers once,this is all covered in the tut.

Never had this issue with XP. Just plugged in VIA card and read drive. As long as drivers are not on system and VIA card is enabled, should be good to go. Maybe different for different operating systems. At the end of the day, the usb pro is stress free and easy to use.

1. Ensure: ahci or raid is disabled in bios/native ide - ok)
2. Primary sata1 or 0 (lowest#): Onboard (each sata port is labled on the mobo)
3. VIA only - unticked < in JF
4. Scroll thru your i/o ports and note the port that the drive is on
OS won't boot? BSOD? - RAID/AHCI disabled bootfix -> http://bit.ly/JYTqQR

Answers to nearly every JF-related question in one convenient PDF!

REMOVE DRIVER CORRECTLY: Go through the steps in the tut, starting at page 157. Device mngr should say VT6421 and !yellow

So everyone is clear, I found the issue. The PCI Sata card I received from Amazon was not the same as what was pictured. So I basically got scammed because I found out that the sata card did not even actually have a VIA chipset, it was not even the same card.
