im recently having a problem flashing xboxs with my via pci sata card, ive flashed loads of xbox with the same card and via drivers removed/disabled/enabled/etc so not an issue there,my problem is wenever i tried to read the firmware on any xbox drive it goes all jerky then the screen just freezes on me,

like i said ive had this in my pc for ages without a problem then it just suddenly started doing this.

anybody came across this before?

Sometimes the pci card can come a little loose. I usually fixed the problem by removing it from the pc, giving it a good clean and placing it back firmly into the pci slot. Make sure that it secured properly to the back of the case as well eith by a single screw or a support plate depending on the kind of case you have :)

try connecting the xbox directly to the sata port on your motherboard unless you are 100% that your sata chipset is incompatible.
It could be also a failing Power supply unit on your PC.

I'd personally format the hdd (after backing everything up first of course). I know it's a complete ball ache, but this solved it for me when I had similar problems to yours.

also, its worth nothing that i've seen VIA cards just simply die. They are, after all, very cheap pieces of hardware.

thanx guys but im giving up and ive already ordered the usb pro, that way i can just do away with that pc and use my laptop....thanx for the help anyways fellas
Thought about getting a 360usb pro for a while, but does the drive have to be powered by the xbox or is there a way to power up the drive through another device? I flash alot of console and it would be excelent if I could do it on the move.
