I've never heard of this, but it could be achieved with some creative modding. If you use a USB splitter (and I'm assuming you are using wired controllers), it won't combine the signals / info coming from the two controller into one. The Xbox 360 will recognize each controller. I can't think of anything you can do right now to help your situation.

What if I by-pass the "controller brain" part of the 2nd controller and just attach the wires from controller 2 to controller 1 directly. Or take a razor blade and cut the ciruit that identifies the controller as unique. Its ok if it then a permanant redundant controller. There are two lines that go to the glowing X (I forget what they call that large middle button), I don't know if that is just for show or if that would be the circuit to cut.

Or just go from the buttons in #2 to the wire in #1.
