Want to try the reset glitch hack but a bit of guidence needed

Hi all,

I have been doing some reading about the reset glitch for a little bit and there is a ton of information out there so sorry in advance if some of this sounds a bit ill-informed / stoopid.

I quite like the idea of getting a coolrunner 2 (when they are out) and giving this a go on an old Phat xbox.

From what I have read you need to install the coolrunner 2 onto the board as well as nand-x (hardware that needs soldering is that correct) so you can dump your nand (and CPU key)? Can this be done via USB using nad-x?

Do you use BestPigs ECCGlitchGenerator 1.1 to read / dump?

Once that is done you can use this to get it up and running. I would like to run ggbuild (so I can get freestyle dash working) so I can play my backups. I would also like to have xell working so I can run emulators (xell is needed for running unsigned / homebrew code)?

Am I way off base with what I am saying? I am only after some guidance on what I need to do to get this booting freestyle dash (to run backups) and something to let me run the emus / homebrew stuff (like mupen64). How do you, roughly, install them? Just wondered if I am talking utter gibberish...

I know this is early days for the rest glitch hack but I have read / seen that it has now become possible to run backups on freestyle dash since ggbuild was released (as xell was all you could run when it first came out).

Any advice / guidance / corrections to the foolish things I have said above would be much appreciated!

EDIT : Ok, after some more reading I can see that I need a coolrunner AND the Nand-X as you need to dump the nand with nand-x but that is not possible on its own (on new dash updates) without the coolrunner installed. SO I guess I have answered that first question about the first step.

Coolrunner- is the device that is needed to glitch the system
NANDx- merely is used to read/write your nand

NANDPro- program you will use to read/write your nand.
Best Pigs ecc gen- Used to create a .ecc image. This will let you obtain your cpu key from the system:
--First you dump a backup of your system using the NANDX and Nandpro (they might have their own program like NANDpro for NANDX), then you run that backup through Best Pigs Gen, once complete you write that now created .ecc image back into your system. When booted should give you Xell which is where you will combine correct fusesets to get your cpu key.

Then you will take that key using Flashtool make sure your original nand dump opens correctly. If so you are on to creating a hacked kernel. There is several programs out there, ggbuild is what you will want, there a few automated programs. Using your original dump and cpu key create a hacked kernel image. Flash that back into your system and should boot like normal but allow you to run anything youd like. IE homebrew, loaders, and so on.
