Hi, is there anyone in the UK that can retrieve the DVD key from a faulty Hitachi GDR-3120L DVD drive PCB? I know Teajunkie used to do it but he doesn't anymore.

It belongs to a Xenon console so I can't get the key from it.

It's a v79 board and it's not driving the laser so I can't use the unlock CD. It did have a faulty laser which must have damaged something on the board.

That rgh 1.2 looks interesting, I've only got a CR4 just now but I might invest in a compatible glitcher.

you could always remove the tsop chip and transplant it onto a working pcb, save all the hassle of trying to RGH xenon

there is no hassle on xenons with what i recommended to him. less work than transplanting the tsop.

I really appreciate the input from both of you.

I did consider transplanting the sst chip, but I think I'll try the RGH 1.2 method as I have a second Xenon box here that also needs a key retrieval.

Where you live?
Id just get a new drive on ebay or something and put the PCB in it or fix the laser problem. Probably be easier than RGH or transplanting the chip.

It's the PCB that's faulty so I can't transplant it into another drive. I could try to fix the PCB, but without a circuit diagram I'd just be stabbing in the dark.
