LITEON 74850 Way back on LT+ 1.1

I have searched around pretty throughout for the answer to my question, and I haven't seen any clear answers that directly address my issue.

I have an old phat xbox with a liteon 74850c drive that was previously flashed to LT+ 1.1 (I'm almost 100% sure).

What are the steps to safely upgrade my drive and flash it for whatever the latest firmware is? I have my CK3 Pro and CK3 Probe 2. I found the giant PDF but it doesn't address doing an upgrade from so far back. I am on an old dashboard version from 2010, I haven't gone on live since around the same time I flashed it.

I have all the files JungleFlasher dumped way back in sept. 2010.

Dummy.bin
Identify.bun
Inquiry.bin
Key.bin
Serial.bin

you have to flash the stock firmware in the DVD. update the dashboard to 2.0.14719.0 to prevent loose the RGH and then flash the LT+ 3.0. and done!!!

I am currently preparing to flash the stock firmware, got some help on facebook.

Is that a specific dashboard version, or the latest? Why do you mention it specifically? What is RGH? Don't I need the latest dash to play games on live?

Edit: RGH looks like a bootrom exploit. Used for jtag?

Thank you very much!

I am a little interested in this exploit, but after watching a video, I really don't use my xbox enough to risk frying it with my sh*t soldering skills. I know that sounds weird, but I do like to use it every once in awhile, and I am not about to replace it.

Am I holding onto a gem that I should attempt to trade to a person who could use it to its potential?

Also, do I need the probe 3? It looks way more basic then my probe 2, which leads me to believe its the same thing with less features (that I don't use anyways).

You don't need a probe if you have your dummy.bin, Load it as source, Load stock 74850 from pre 13146 folder, Spoof. Update using usb, Then do the same to reflash except use f/w from post 13146 folder liteon 0251 lt3

Forgive my apparent brain fart, but I cannot find any sort of collection of firmwares for my drive in the threads mentioned or in the major forum sections. I am looking for the 'pre' and 'post' folders you mentioned.

there is no links to firmware on this forum..you need to find it yourself...try google or the jungleflasher chat

Last time I used this xbox to any capacity was back in like september 2010. I am guessing this is pre-update since last time I flashed my drive was when it was still a 74850.

Naw his link was actually helpful. I have found my stock firmware, which is what I'm trying to do right now, flash back to stock so I can proceed. I can tackle the problem of flashing to a modded firmware by following the excellent tutorials.

Edit: I don't have an xecuter 360 usb. Can I still use my VIA card?

yeh you should be able to...
just check out your dash in console settings to find the Dash Version
thought you had already been given the links to the tutorials :rolleyes2: lol was the same user that did
you file ...dummy.bin... is what you will need to use to

Hmm, turns out I was updated to the dashboard that the firmware update was issued on. I upgraded my dash via USB, and nothing special happened when I logged into live...

Anyways, I yanked the drive out and went to flash to lt v3, sent a device intro and got error 0xD0. Now the drive isnt powering on when connected to ck3 (no eject when button pressed). I hope I didn't fry my drive... at least I have my keys.

Edit: Further reading suggests this is a byproduct of the dash update while the drive was flashed (happened a long time ago). Any ideas how to fix :(

Edit: solved it myself. Wiped the firmware and didnt powercycle, so just needed to send an intro :)
