Weather or not my Xbox 360 is RGH/JTAG capable.

I have a Limited Edition Halo 3 Phat Xbox 360. It has the Zephyr motherboard, and the dashboard kernal is 2.0.16197 and has a chip mod put in that enables it to read burnt/copied games. Sadly it slowly got to the point where it does not read anything and a Lens Cleaner CD does not help, but it is still able to play games on it and connect to Xbox Live. I have been hearing that anything past kernal 2.0.7371 is non JTAGable. I have searched around if it is possible to downgrade to 7371. Many people say the only way to 'downgrade' is to take the NANDs and the CPU of an Xbox with kernal 7371 or less because the update after that blows the Boot E-fuses. I looked up what E-Fuses are, and it says they or digital fuses in the CPU that prevent physical fuses from blowing. I think it is possible to downgrade but highly difficult by reprogramming the chip to replace the E-Fuses or something like that, but I'm not an expert/professional on that matter, so let's leave that subject and not start a pointless argument. I've heard Xboxes past a certain update are not yet RGH capable, and some can take RGH1 and RGH2. I've also heard other people say that all are RGH capable as of now. I want to know if that is true, if mine is in a state if it is/isn't possible, what is recommended, how much it'll cost, and whats needed/recommended.

To be honest, I wouldn't spend any money on a Zephyr board.

If you want a reliable console, get a phat console with a Jasper motherboard or a slim console.

Also, what exactly is bad about the Zephyr board? I have 2 Xboxes, the Halo 3 Phat one, and a Halo 4 Slim. Idk what board the Halo 4 one has, nor much other info on it. And I am NOT modifying the Halo 4 one.

If you want to take it back on xbox live, first of all, jtag/rgh/r-jtag will make it no longer able to be taken on xbox live. And it is still possible to get it able to get the disc drive working again, so it can still be ued on xbox live. all you have to do is replace to drive and do a little soldering. If you really want to go with jtag/rgh/j-jtag that is fine I'm just saying that you don't need to to do this to get the drive working again, in fact, with these mods, the drive will still be broken.

I know the drive will still not work after modding. I'll just open it, see what drive it is, find one online, and replace it. Also, where can I buy a R-JTAG Ultimate Kit? Every store I've been to is sold out. Could you show me where to find and buy the parts seperate? And on a side note, I'd like to get a fan mod for it too so it doesn't overheat, if you would like to help me with that.

dont install the fan mod, modify the temps in the smc config, and the xbox will cool itself just fine, as for the r-jtag, I dont know if you will be able to find that, you may have to wait for the cr4-xl. you could look for the starter kit and order the QSB's/jr-programmer seperatly.

first off you could do a potentiometer adjustment on the laser and probably get some more play time out of the disk drive just google it. its easy.... secondly, the mod installed on your xbox now would not compliment an rjtag since you cant rip your games with a weak or burnt-out laser. and dont ask about that which shall not be mentioned here but i think if you are modding this console yourself you would be better off starting small and see if you can fix it before you hack it because a lot of people straight F*** UP their consoles by getting in over their heads because they didnt read enough before they started hacking their console to pieces

oh sorry, that is a starter kit. I think the ultimate kit is just the starter kit with a couple of extra things that you could buy separately. I think the ultimate kit is sold out for good so you need to get the Sartre kit and other stuff.

if you want to go with reliability get a demon and a slim proto v2 that way you will have a normal slim for xbox live and then you press a button and the demon switches to its onboard nand where you will be writing a glitch image to. best of all it uses parallel programming with read/write capabilities of about 30 seconds. no need for an spi nand reader like nand-x or jr programmer. you can get this stuff at xconsoles.com check em out you may even find your rjtag but you might have to make an account first to see all the goodies (oh yeah slim console must be trinity or corona v1/v3/v5 to use a demon)

I am going to try to fix the drive before doing anything else. What do you mean the current modification wouldn't compliment the R-JTAG? How so? And why would I rip games off of discs? Can the R-JTAG copy games straight onto the hardrive or allows that capability(If so, gonna need a bigger hardrive)?

As said, I am NOT modding my Halo 4 Xbox(Slim Xbox), only the Halo 3(Phat Xbox).

What does the CR4-XL do? I looked it up and it seems like something for RGHing. I thought anything past a certain update can't be RGHed currently? I am on 2.0.16197

hence why you were advised to read the roadmap - you don't need to have good literacy. It's a chart.

I did read the road map and it shows that my Xbox's Zephyr board can't be RGHed since it's past 14719. That's why I want to R-JTAG it since that's only exploit it can do according to the RoadMap

I'll try looking for the Jungle Flasher pdf, but I haven't heard of it till now. And I did do a little research, which is why i asked the questions I have so far because of conflicting info, as I am terrible with forums.

*Addition*Good new, according to that PDF I have the BenQ Drive(2 white wires), and my brother and his friend broke off his friends Phat Xbox's outercase a couple months ago and wrote on the inner case not caring what happens to it, it still runs(It is also unmodded but with a Falcon board), and after checking it a minute ago, it also has a BenQ Drive. So I found my replacement drive hopefully.(His friend doesn't care what happens to his Xbox and he hopes mine gets modded)
