Hello all,

Well i think its handy to give you some background info and then pics. I have a jasper 512

Background:
Been working on this xbox for 5 days straight, i ordered the coolrunner-II dev board from ebay and i went to work. After loads of problems and sh*tting around i finally got it to work. After that and a lot of reading i finally got normal boot times with some 68n caps. It worked fine and i've setup FSD and all that played some games.
Then i decided to put it back in the shell, and afterwards if wasent booting or only after minutes (which was to long for me).
So i opened up again and noticed that the CPU_RESET should not run at the fans nor the disk drive so i got some good times again (whithin 1-6 reboots)
But i wanted faster so i switched to some heavy shielded wire but no luck. So i decided to put back the normal wire i got the good boot times from but after that it was a no go. Nothing worked no matter what i did. The debug pin on the Coolrunner-II wasent outputting 3.3v... so i gave up and decided to order executer coolrunner.

This time around:
So i got it the next day and i first flashed it with my home made flash cable (3.3v from my PSU and switch to program) verified and correct (according to IMPACT)
So then i put it in my xbox and soldered everything. (Using my already soldered wires for CPU_POST1 and PPL_BYPASS and STBY_CLK). Well everything done i plugged in power and red light lit up from the coolrunner (i switched it back to normal and fat)
Turned on power and nothing..... no green led (let it work for a few mins)

So then:
Redid STBY_CLK and PPL_BYPASS (it was a hell STBY_CLK because i demolished the connection first time around and blew up the resister, but now it is correctly connected because if not my box wouldent boot at all)
And still nothing......

Extra background:
1) I completly destroyed STBY_CLK but i have it correctly fixed (if not it should not boot)
2) I screwed up on the PPL_BYPASS so used the top side as alternative connection, i tested connection by bottom side and connection on coolrunner. Was good connection.
3) And no my strange wire sh*t at STBY_CLK isent shorting (it almost looks that way)

Hoping i can fix this.... i want it to work!!!!
Thanks for reading.

//EDIT:
I have not installed the 68nF caps on coolrunner as in my rage i've thrown my old ones away! But the green light should still flash w/o the caps right? Because the CPU_RST is just an output signal.

if I were you. I would take everything off, unsolder all wires from the board and CoolRunner. Get some flux and clean up your contact points and even clean or strip a new section on the wires as well. Then start over and follow the guide to every word.
Here is the guide just in case you need it: http://www.team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75749
If you want it done by someone who's done quite a few already, give me a PM and we can work something out if you're in the US.

Well i'm nowhere close to the US, but like i said i got it to work with the xilinx coolrunner and i have soldered a lot in my life (however i f**ked up this board good! but i was able to fix it also ;)) anyhoo like i said i first had the other coolrunner installed and redid everything with this TX coolrunner so redoing it again makes little sense. I want to know if there arent some debug points, Like testing if points are working or are outpouting some signals.

Perhaps i've destroyed some electronics around the CPU_RST however that still does not make sense why green light is not litting. So why is it not..

Well thanks ;)

I'm only advising checking over your points. The first coolrunner I did I had a cold solder point, probably from going much to quickly out of excitement, and just didnt realize it until I went back and looked it all over.

I know, i thank you for your advise.
I only hoped it was something like:
Oo check Resister 4 and check this part and check if this looks burnd or something ;)

Well if any one has any tips to check what perhaps i blew up or broke feel free to post.

Thanks in advance

So i tested all resisters around CPU_RST, CPU_POST1 and all turned out to be good.

I measured voltage when booting with TX coolrunner installed:
A: 0.62v (stable)
B: 1.65v (stable)
C: spike to 1v else 0v
D: 0.01v (stable)

I also tested resistance between solder points (on tin) to solder points on TX coolrunner (on tin) and they all had zero resistance (except point B but because of my bad job it has a 39 ohm resister)

So any one idea what i can do next? Test what? do what? Replace what?

Ok i pinpointed the problem to this:
Code:
      -- main counter
      if (to_integer(postcnt) < POST_39) or (to_integer(postcnt) > POST_3B) then
        cnt <= (others => '0');
          DBG2 <= '0'; -- Custom debug pin 12
      else
            DBG3 <= '0'; -- Custom debug pin 13
        if cnt<2**CNT_WIDTH-1 then
          cnt <= cnt + 1;
        end if;
      end if;
I initially set DBG2 and DBG3 high. However DBG3 is never getting 0. So postcnt is at fault (as it never goes between POST_39 and POST_3B.

So from that we can conclude that something is wrong with CPU_OUT1 (as i resoldered it a few times and even moved to alternative top point and rechecked that a douzend times)

So does any one know if there is an alternative alternative point that has the same behavier as CPU_OUT1 but not on the same line?

Or anything else i can test, or try to cleanup the signal.

I want to buy on oscilloscope for this, but they are damn expensive, (even second hand). So any one any idea how to proceed, test, do or wtf!!!!

Tsk....

Well bought a second hand elite xbox with Falcon mb and a half broken cd drive (the one where the firmware does not match the mb).

Installed coolrunner flashed some sh*t. Runs with 1 or 2 glitch attempts.

GG....gg....

Well selling my Jasper one as it runs fine just impossible to RGH now..

Well i got my RGHed console. And its black :p
