weird flash attempt

OK i have the ms28 and i got the most recent bootmaker and xtreme firmware, i couldnt boot from usb so i tried floppy and when i typed xread 123456 7890 and selected my sata 1.xtreme it said something like port???db/000 pri. master

anyways it didnt work and thank god didnt brick my drive. what happend?

since you have a ms28 you should be turning off the console before you hit enter at xread 123456 1234, about eight to ten seconds later after hitting enter you turn your console back on and it should start reading right away

As Ground_Pounder said "you need a via chipset to flash a ms28 drive".

The one he recommends is also the one that I use

Yea i have a viz chipset, but is what i experienced normal? after i pressed one it went to something like port?????pri master...then i turn off the xbox?

use the bad flash mehodwith a floopy works 100% everytime ive flashed.

turn on pc and wait for the floppy or usb with mkflash files to boot.

type the command mtkflash r /m orig.bin (DONT HIT ENTER YET)

turn on your xbox wait 3secs then hit enter
should get 3 to 4 options which ever 1 is your via chipset that is the one to chose but not yet.

1. pri master
2. pri master sec
3. via (your onboard sata chipset)
4. (only if you have a pci sata card will you get option 4)

turn of the xbox. chose your chipset then wait 10 sec,s and turn the xbox back on it should start reading your orig.bin and save it to the floopy.
