I had a person come in with a botched coolrunner job...
It wouldnt even blink green, so first i tested to see if the Motherboard was screwed, I put the cool runner to prog mode and flash the original nand... Then a wild RROD appears! Full on 3 red rings... I then tried taking All the coolrunner cables off. So removing the whole thing. I checked the pads and nothing was damaged (which was good) and tried turning it on... Then i get a 2 RROD (Section 1 and 3 indication of ventilation problem?).. I put it in the metal cage and attached screw... Boots fine into Official dash...

This was some freaky sh*t... Has anyone else seen this happen? Its like some consoles are haunted or something... Never the less I took no chances and was like "Your console boots... sell it... get a slim" and did nothing else to it...

Soldering Looked ok... yeah... really weird... Post any other observations such as this...

Tea junkie mentioned this very thing. He said he believe it happens when people use the heatsink to remove the board from the metal chasis.

I've also been saying this. You need to get out of the habit of lifting the board out by the heatsink. I turn the chassis upside-down and release the board that way.

If you're going to lift it out of the chassis, be prepared to remove the CPU heatsink and reapply thermal paste.

Ok... Well he was an idiot.. I always remove the board by first taking out fans, turning over and using two screw drivers pop out the black things from the chassis...

This would explain a lot...

Well... At least i got his console booting... What idiots will do to save a whole 90NZD
