hey everyone, I've got a v1.6 xbox and the x3 and I've installed it and it come up and works and the back up works however when I try to disable the x3 the xbox turns off then right back on and when it comes back on the blue light is on the external led, and the eject button flashes green and red. I know it's prolly a solder problem but where should I narrow the look down to, as I said it all works fine except trying to turn thr xbox on with the x3 disabled. also dumb question but what does the wheel ion the x3 do?

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

1st ... are you sure you still have an MS Dashboard installed on the Hardrive ...
do you have any error number on screen .. ? or simply a black scrren ?

2nd .. the "wheel" is for the optional LCD Display ... to control the brightness

I think I still do, I loaded evo-x after the issues started... but I can still get to the ms dashboard to check the xlive and time and date stuff from my x3 bios. I just can't load up into it, by disabling the xecuter3. and it never shows an error code when the xbox powers up after I hold the power button, the external led is red, then it spins up and then shutsdown, then after a second it will turn on with the x3 enabled and boot fine while the x3 is enabled.

First, it sounds like you've left the +5v pin in the header that you soldered to the mobo, this pin will need to be desoldered and removed (or you could just clip the pin at the surface of the header, this will save some time), and then make sure you're using the alternate +5v source as indicated in the guides.

Second the scroll wheel is an adjustment for the optional xLCD screen.

actually I have pulled the spare pin and I have the alternate 5v installed, maybe I didn't get the point to the alt 5v done good enough.
